Director of Architecture

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate licensed architect, with a successful track record leading and inspiring talented project teams, to join our firm and lead our architectural team as Director of Architecture.

The Direct of Architecture will assist our salespeople with business development efforts (architecturally, when needed), lead clients through the schematic design process, assist and supervise each projects’ development and refinement through subsequent design development and construction document phases, and take lead responsibility for continuing to build, manage and refine the architectural studio’s capabilities, creativity, efficiency, accuracy, and reputation with clients and within the design community.

In addition, by successfully fulfilling the Direct of Architecture responsibilities, the candidate filling this role will have the opportunity to earn the role of Principal Architect within the next two to three years.

This position is full-time and will be based in our Suwanee, GA headquarters (Johns Creek area). 25% to 35% travel is expected.

To be considered for this position, the candidate should possess the following minimum  experience, skills and abilities:

  • Licensed Architect with current AIA registration and NCARB certification.
  • 25+ years architectural design experience related to commercial ground-up construction.
  • 5-10+ years’ experience developing and managing architectural teams.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills (ability to empower and foster a strong design sensibility in our staff, while also setting and maintaining high standards for the quality, efficiency and accuracy of deliverables).
  • Outstanding design, graphic presentation and communication skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of design and construction standards, documentation, techniques, tools, and building materials/systems, etc.
  • Ability to create inspirational architecture that meets clients’ objectives while adhering to budgets, schedules, and performance criteria.
  • Passionate about trends in architectural design and their relevance to inform our work.
  • Willingness and desire to assist with business development, marketing, & client presentations.
  • A serve-first approach to relationships with coworkers, vendors, and clients, and a devotion to high quality customer service.
  • Mastery of the basic technical skills required for all phases of architecture, and ability to supervise and develop these skills in other team members, including:
    • Schematic Design – Client Meetings/Presentations, Conceptual Design, Hand Sketching, CAD (AutoCAD LT 2020), 3D modeling (SketchUp), etc.
    • Design Development - Client Meetings/Presentations, Detailed Design, Value Engineering, CAD (AutoCAD LT 2020), Exterior Finishes, Scope of Work (Word/Excel), Photorealistic Renderings (Typically Outsourced), Proofing All Work Product, etc.
    • Construction Documents – C.D. Production, CAD (AutoCAD LT 2020), Specification Writing & Review (BSD SpecLink), Engineering Contracts/Coordination/Review, Proofing All Work Product, Permitting/Code Reviews, etc.
    • Construction Administration – Manage and assist with responding to RFIs, architectural change orders, site visits, reviewing/approving submittals, etc.
    • Sales Support - Assist sales in pre-contractual meetings and presentations.
  • Proficiency with the following computer skills:
    • Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
    • AutoCAD (proficiency with Revit, SketchUp and/or other 3D rendering software a plus.
    • Knowledge of specification writing software. BSD SpecLink a plus.
    • Knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator graphic software a plus.

Commercial Construction Project Manager and Estimator

Our construction team is growing, and currently seeking a Commercial Construction Project Manager with a minimum of 15 to 20 years of estimating experience to join our team to help manage multiple projects throughout the Southeast from our office in Johns Creek, Georgia. Candidates will possess a unique combination of leadership, organizational, communication and people skills, and construction expertise, as well as a track record of success managing commercial construction projects. This role is a tremendous opportunity to advance within our firm, as it will support the CEO in all facets of construction management and estimating, and will be responsible for significant project activities including, but not limited to:

  • Conceptual estimating
  • Detailed quantity estimating and take-offs
  • Subcontractor bidding and buy-out, and contract negotiation and preparation
  • Construction start-up and close-outs
  • Job cost tracking and projections
  • Shop drawing and submittal review and approvals
  • Field personnel coordination, scheduling, and communication
  • Coordination and communication with internal design-build team members, including account managers, interior designers, architects, etc., as well as outside engineers
  • Responding to RFIs
  • Preparation and coordination of change orders (subcontractor and owner)
  • Client meetings, communication, and presentations
  • Construction scheduling
  • Punch lists and project completion follow-up
  • Site visits with travel throughout the southeastern United States
  • Managing and monitoring daily jobsite construction administration activities and responsibilities

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess the following minimum experience, skills and abilities:

  • At least 15 to 20 years of similar commercial construction project experience required (similar in scope to what has been described above), including actual field construction experience. Corporate, financial and retail experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction, Construction Science, Construction Management, or similar preferred
  • Strong construction materials and methods knowledge
  • Strong financial management skills including accurate budget forecasting and a demonstrated ability to produce results within projected time and budget limits
  • Proven ability to understand construction documents (drawings, specifications, and industry standard documentation)
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations
  • Jobsite safety rules and requirements
  • Knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, and interact well with senior management, external client organizations, vendors, contractors/subcontractors, and field project managers and superintendents
  • Excellent leadership, oral communication, written communication, organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines
  • Must be quality minded, self-motivated and dedicated to customer service
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project, required. Knowledge of estimating software a plus.

Senior Construction Superintendents / Project Managers

Are you an experienced on-site project manager with 15 to 20 years of experience leading and managing high quality commercial construction projects? Are you a hands-on superintendent at heart, who doesn't mind getting dirty? Are you also a leader who can communicate with clients and manage subcontractors to ensure we exceed our clients' expectations for quality, schedule and budget? If this sounds like you, we want you on our team!

We are seeking experienced on-site construction professionals with superintendent and project management experience who are capable of successfully executing all areas of our construction management program, including all subcontractor bidding and contract management, job supervision and subcontractor coordination, job cost projections, daily and monthly reporting and owner meetings and communications. Candidates will possess a unique combination of leadership, people skills, and construction expertise, as well as a track record of success managing commercial construction projects.

This position is full-time and requires the candidate to live and work on-site for the duration of each project.

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess the following experiences, skills and abilities:

  • A minimum of 15 to 20 years of experience in construction/project management.
  • Ability to travel and live on-site for the duration of each project.
  • A degree or certification in building construction or related field preferred.
  • Estimating and quantity take-off skills required.
  • Prior on-site construction project management experience in commercial projects required.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management and scheduling skills, and a proven record of success managing projects through to completion.
